Description
Description | The surveys on the usage of information and communication technologies (ICT) in enterprises, in households and by individuals refer to the provision of annual, standardised, meaningful and internationally comparable data. Data about the adoption and use of ICT in Austrian enterprises with at least ten employees and self-employed persons in selected industries and in households with at least one household member aged 16-74 years are collected. The surveys cover relevant ICT-related topic like Internet usage, use of artificial intelligence, indicators on e-commerce sales or e-business processes as well as use of Internet of Things (IoT), of eGovernment services, sustainability and data protection etc. These statistics are included in the European regulations of the European Business Statistics as well as of the Integrated European Social Statistics. For each statistic there are Commission regulations (Implementing acts) which are revised every year. A uniform questionnaire is developed which is implemented in all member states of the European Union. Therefore it is possible to compare the data within Europe. The results of the surveys are an important part of the annual report of the Digital Decade 2030 and provide data on five key indicators, including the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) which is a necessary tool for Europe in order to monitor the single member countries in its development to spread and use information and communication technologies. The project includes the implementation, realisation and analysis of a sample survey. All activities will be carried out by Statistics Austria. For the enterprises as well as for the households, participation in the surveys is voluntary. Austrian results are transmitted annually in October of the survey year to Eurostat. The national results are mostly usually published in November of the survey year. |
