Description | The Steel River Energy Center is the largest planned solar installation in the United States, located in Wilson, Arkansas. It features 2.5 GW DC of solar generation capacity paired with 2.9 GWh of battery energy storage. The project is being developed by Cypress Creek Energy and installed by Moss. The first two of three phases, accounting for 1.6 GW of solar capacity and 1.9 GWh of storage, are currently underway. The project is expected to be completed in 2029. Google has entered into a power purchase agreement for the energy output from the first two phases. The project uses mostly U.S.-made components including steel from PACO Steel and U.S. Steel, Nextpower solar trackers, First Solar modules, and LG Energy Solution Vertech energy storage. |
