Description | Stegra has installed the first 200MW of electrolyser modules for its giant 740MW renewable hydrogen plant, part of the direct-reduced iron (DRI) and steel mill in Boden, northern Sweden. The plant aims to produce green steel using green hydrogen. Initial green steel production is scheduled to begin next year, but green hydrogen-based DRI will not be used initially. Installation of electrolyser modules will continue at a pace of one 20MW module per week until all 37 modules are complete, expected by March 2026. Electrolysis cells will be installed closer to the plant's operational start, targeted for late 2026. |
