Stevenson's Dam Bridge Replacement

The Connecticut Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to replace Stevenson’s Dam Bridge. The new bridge will be located 250 ft upstream of the existing bridge. The bridge, which will carry State Route 34 over the Housatonic River between Monroe and Oxford, will be 55.5 ft long and include two 12-ft-wide travel lanes, two 8-ft-wide shoulders and a 5-ft-wide sidewalk on the upstream side of the bridge. The planned bridge will sit 15 ft higher above the river than the existing bridge. Construction will be complicated due to PCB contamination in the river sediment.
