The project involves construction of a mine expected to cost about $2.6 billion, funded by a $2.9 billion loan approved by the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The project includes building a new access road called the Burntlog Route, which involves upgrading 23 miles of existing dirt road and constructing 15 miles of new roadway through remote areas near the Frank Church – River of No Return Wilderness. The mine is planned to be constructed over a three-year phase starting in summer 2026, but the timeline may be delayed due to a pending lawsuit challenging the mine's approval. |
