Description

Description

The project consists in replacing the Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP) located under Principale Street in the Village of Wendover near Camille Road (a private road). The CSP is 2.7 meters in diameter (8.8 feet) and is 43 meters (141 feet) in length. The culvert is situated in a ravine at a depth of more than 8.0 meters (26.2 feet). The bottom of the CSP is corroded and needs to be replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damages and additional costs to Principale Street, the main public highway running east to west in the Village of Wendover. With more than five (5) meters of overburden, there are evident signs of stress on the CSP and roadway. At the approach of the ravine, the surface of the asphalt shows an evident slump. The base of Principale Street will likely further deteriorate with the next winter (freezing) and spring (tawing) conditions. There is a danger for the public safety and limiting the weight of vehicles transiting on Principale Street. Temporary emergency repairs, installation of braces, have been undertaken by the municipality. The CSP will need to be replaced by open cut method meaning that all the above ground and underground utilities and municipal services will need to be supported during the construction process. The entire community of the Village of Wendover will benefit from the culvert replacement.
