Description

Description

Guelph’s stormwater system consists of 477 Kilometres of sewer pipes, 11,900 drain or catch basins, 120 management facilities such as stormwater ponds and 143 oil-grit separators. Guelph’s stormwater infrastructure requires rehabilitation, particularly at two of the City’s critical facilities. Repair of the two high priority ponds (Tovell Drive at Elmira Road Pond and Hilldale Pond) will reduce potential for flooding of local upstream urban areas and significantly improve quality of water and eco-system health of the Eramosa and Speed Rivers and their tributaries. The City has also prioritized sediment removal for two additional City owned stormwater management ponds (Hanlon Road/Shadybrook Cresent Pond and Hazelwood Drive/Quail Creek Drive Pond) based on their available capacity. Critical rehabilitation such as inlet/outlet repairs will be completed along with sediment removal to restore the full capacity and benefits of the facilities.
