Description | Ucore Rare Metals is constructing the Strategic Metals Complex (SMC) in Alexandria, Louisiana, transforming an 80,000-square-foot warehouse into a rare earth oxide separation facility. The refinery will use proprietary RapidSX technology to separate rare earth elements used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense systems. The project aims to establish a North American rare earth supply chain, reducing dependence on China. The facility is being built in stages, targeting 2,000 tons per year by 2026, scaling to 5,000–7,500 tons by 2028, with an ambitious target of 12,000 tons annually by 2027 if conditions allow. |
