Stratford Pumped Hydro and Solar Project

The project involves transforming the retired Stratford Mining Complex, a former open-cut coal mine in the Gloucester Basin, into a renewable energy hub. It includes a 300 MW pumped hydro energy storage system with up to 12 hours of energy storage and a 320 MW solar farm. The project will use water transfer between a new upper reservoir and an existing dam via a tunnel to generate electricity, providing firming by storing surplus electricity during the day and releasing it at peak times. It also involves re-aligning an existing 132 kV transmission line and building an on-site electrical substation to connect the system to the grid.
