Description | The Stratford Pumped Hydro and Solar project is a $1.8 billion renewable energy project transforming a former mining site in the Gloucester Valley into a renewable energy generator. It includes a 300 MW pumped hydro power station with 12 hours of energy storage and a 320 MW solar farm. The project will transfer water between a new upper reservoir and an existing dam via a tunnel to generate electricity, providing firming energy by storing surplus electricity during the day and releasing it at peak times in the evening. It is expected to power up to 120,000 homes and deliver around 13% of the State's 2034 long duration storage target. |
