Description | The Stratford Pumped Hydro project is a $1.8 billion initiative to transform a former mining site in the Gloucester Valley into a renewable energy generator. It includes a 300MW pumped hydro power station with 12 hours of energy storage and a 320MW solar farm. The project will use water transferred between a new upper reservoir and an existing dam to generate electricity, providing firming energy by storing surplus electricity during the day and releasing it at peak times. It is expected to deliver around 13% of New South Wales' 2034 long-duration storage target. |
