The Stratos Project is a large-scale data center planned for a rural area of Box Elder County, Utah, south of US-84. It is being developed through a partnership with O’Leary Digital and West GenCo, with development planned in phases over multiple years. The project site was chosen for its direct access to the Ruby Pipeline natural gas corridor, existing fiber infrastructure, location outside the Wasatch Front air quality nonattainment area, proven geotechnical conditions, and proximity to Brigham City and Tremonton workforces while minimizing environmental and community impact. The Box Elder County Commission approved a partnership with the Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA) to move forward with the project. Developers will be responsible for paying rollback taxes on properties losing greenbelt status and funding road improvements and traffic studies. The project has faced public backlash over concerns about air quality and water consumption.
