Description
Description | The COVID-19 pandemic in Algeria has had major negative health consequences, particularly affecting poor population groups. The steadily increasing number of infections as the pandemic progressed poses major challenges for the Algerian health system. In addition, Algeria is in an economic crisis as the global decline in oil prices, which was exacerbated by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to a decline in government revenues and fiscal space. The project supports Algeria in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating the effects of the pandemic on the population as a whole, including vulnerable sections of the population. The project will finance the procurement of urgently needed medical products and equipment for hospitals and laboratories, including equipment for the quality control of medical products. The medical products and equipment to be provided to hospitals include biochemical reagents, MRI machines, oxygen production systems, mobile clinics and cold chain equipment. Equipment for laboratories to support pharmaceutical quality control of vaccines and medicines includes cold storage rooms for sterility control of vaccines and medicines. Furthermore, the skills of healthcare professionals to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic will be strengthened through training. |
