Description
Description | The aim of the individual project is to contribute to strengthening resilience in Northern Bahr el Ghazal by improving basic social services in the areas of water/sanitation/hygiene (WASH), nutrition, healthcare and child and women's protection for vulnerable population groups, especially children under five years of age. The project sponsor is the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The project consists of four components (1) Increasing the proportion of the population of the target communities with access to water and sanitation facilities; (2) Improved access for malnourished children to high-quality medical treatment; (3) Improved access for pregnant women and children to medical services, in particular prenatal care and the prevention and treatment of general illnesses, childhood diseases and malaria; (4) Strengthening the protection of children and women who are at risk of or already affected by violence, exploitation and abuse. The project is to be implemented as part of a joint program by four UN organizations or sub-organizations (WFP, FAO, UNDP and UNICEF) in cooperation with local South Sudanese authorities. The aim of the joint program is to create the basis for regaining stability and resilience (crisis resistance) in Northern el Ghazal through an integrated and multi-sectoral approach. The financial contribution after increases amounts to EUR 5,327,800 for an implementation period of 24 months. The planned total volume of the joint program is EUR 20 million. |
