Description

Description

The general objective of the European Union Anti-Fraud Programme is to protect the EU financial interests. In order to achieve it, the specific objective of the Programme is to prevent and combat fraud, corruption and any other illegal activities affecting the EU financial interests, by reinforcing the investigative capabilities and capacity of national authorities. Contributing to this objective of the EUAF Programme, the general objective of the project is to strengthen and improve the National Anticorruption Directorate’s investigative and operational capacity, through the acquisition of advanced digital forensic equipment and the provision of specialized training. This initiative directly addresses the general objectives of the call under Topic 2 - Digital Forensic Hardware: “The purchase and maintenance of digital forensic equipment and software, mobile forensic tools and computer forensic collaborative systems used in the fight against irregularities, fraud and corruption detrimental to the Union’s financial interests. Cross-border cooperation enabling the exchange of information and best practices, in particular at operational level, is strongly encouraged. Projects may also include updates of existing software and associated training”. Specialised training to enable staff to operate these tools is also included as part of the action. The general objective of the project is to strengthen the digital forensic capabilities of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) to support the effective investigation and prosecution of crimes affecting the financial interests of the European Union.
