Strengthening the European Values. This Chair will be devoted to the analysis, explanation and dissemination of the recent EU actions and strategies to increase the promotion and implementation of EU values. In fact, the four founding pillars of this Application are: democracy, rule of law, fundamental rights, and the EU Citizenship. I shall examine these values both in the internal and external action of the EU. I shall lecture at the University of Valencia (Spain) two mandatory general courses on EU Law (360-390 university students in 3 years) and an optional module on EU for adult education and training per year (maximum 40 students per year). In order to reach excellence in teaching activities, I have scheduled the creation of several “didactic” and “teaching” materials, as well as the recording of almost 40 teaching mini-videos on EU matters. I shall create two Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) on “what is the EU?” and on “the protection of fundamental rights in Europe” and I shall create an Open Ware Course on the subject “EU Legal Institutions”. Each year, I shall organise a Jean Monnet Workshop for each one of the four pillars mentioned above, and I also shall open a research line for each one of them, where I shall publish peer revied articles in Journals of excellence and supervise students research works. I shall create a website containing an Observatory on Non-Discrimination and EU Citizenship. Other activities that will have a highly disseminating impact are my contribution to the publication of the weekly newsletter “Info-Europa”, in collaboration with the University of Valencia Centre of European Documentation, and the broadcasting of a weekly radio programme on EU news through the University of Valencia radio station. During the third year of this Jean Monnet Chair, I shall coordinate the publication of a collective book. All the staff members of this Application, including myself, will write a book chapter on the subject matter of this Project.
