Description

Mémorial de la Shoah (henceforth “the Memorial”) is the premier institution in France dedicated to the preservation of the memory of the Holocaust and amongst the leading such bodies in Europe and around the world. Through documentation and research, education and commemoration and awareness raising, in the current project the Memorial seeks to: 1. Strengthen Holocaust education and cultivate networks across Europe 2. Address hate speech and develop citizenship skills among young people, drawing on lessons of the Holocaust 3. Expand public access to resources, scaling digitisation efforts. To achieve these objectives, the Memorial will conduct a comprehensive programme consisting of: extensive archival work; site visits, workshops and trainings for school children, students, teachers, law enforcement, and other stakeholders in both France and across the EU; exhibitions and other public cultural events; and the coordination of networks of remembrance. Taken together, this wide-ranging list of activities will anchor the Holocaust as a shared European history and living legacy and sensitize an EU-wide audiences to the causes and consequences of racism and antisemitism, bringing about heightened democratic resilience and civic responsibility. In 2026, the programme will reach over 100.000 pupils through educational activities; 10.000 teachers, students, law enforcement and other professionals through trainings and site visits; 600 000 members of the general public participating in the Memorial’s cultural programme and over 1 million people online.
