Description
Description | The expansion of the capacities of the Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute is intended to ensure the long-term professional qualification of administrative staff, elected representatives and traditional authorities of the Zambian districts. The FC funding contribution amounts to a total of EUR 8.0 million (EUR 3.0 million supplementary programme proposal and EUR 5.0 million original programme proposal). This will be used to renovate the old building structure and to build new buildings to create a modern campus that will meet the growing demand for training places. In addition, the institute's teaching capacity will be improved through the use of an education consultant. Additional measures are intended to finance the school's spatial equipment in particular. The aim of the project is to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of local administrative action by improving the qualifications of staff and representatives of the district population. The project will therefore help to improve access to basic public services that are the responsibility of local authorities. Since poor people in Zambia suffer particularly from a lack of access to these basic public services, this also contributes to poverty reduction. The further training of representatives of the local population is also intended to increase understanding of the importance and acceptance of decentralization. |
