Description | To conduct public health surveillance and epidemiological assessments; develop high quality laboratory systems and diagnostic capacity; and implement evidence-based public health programs on infectious diseases of public health importance in Bangladesh, including but not limited, to Zoonotic diseases, Tuberculosis, Influenza and other diseases, including diseases with pandemic potential. Provide training for scientists (including laboratorians), health professionals and fellows/students in health assessment, epidemiology, surveillance, methods for data collection and analysis, and evidence-based program planning, implementation and evaluation. Strengthen local, district and national capacity in Bangladesh to investigate and respond to outbreaks or other public health priorities, and carry-out epidemiological analyses that support national and regional disease prevention and control efforts. Incorporate lessons learned from evaluations and assessments of programs to control and eradicate diseases in Bangladesh, and ensure sharing of expertise with public-health partners in the region. Strengthen global health security including biosafety and biosecurity to prevent the spread of diseases across borders. |
