Description

Description

The aim of the project is to improve access to adequate basic services for individuals, households and communities. The focus is primarily on food security and health, as well as an improved ability to respond to future shocks (resilience). Since resilience is a multi-sectoral concept, several components are being promoted simultaneously. On the one hand, food transfers and nutritional supplements are being made available, basic health services are being provided, and access to water and sanitation for the population is being improved. At the same time, the project is supporting the development of state capacities, especially in the areas of coordination and monitoring, as well as the management of procurement and logistics. A warehouse is also being built in Mogadishu. UNICEF and the World Food Programme (WFP) complement each other by contributing activities from their respective areas of expertise and offering these as a regionally coordinated overall package, often in jointly used facilities. This cooperation is to be further deepened as part of the transitional aid project.
