Strengthening resilience of drought-affected households in Zambia

completed

Persistent and recurring drought is causing significant damage to harvests in some districts of Zambia. Improving agricultural methods and promoting the cultivation of drought-resistant crops is intended to strengthen the resilience of the affected agricultural households in five districts. The target group of smallholder households affected by the drought is also being supported in taking measures to avoid crop losses and to prepare for the next harvest season. To cushion the immediate impact of the drought on the affected children in two districts, the implementation of school meals is being supported. The World Food Programme (WFP) is being called in to implement the emergency project.
