Description
Description | The aim of the project is to increase and diversify income and rebuild productive assets of the supported households in southern Somalia in the medium term. This is intended to increase the resilience of the population in the project area. The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is implementing the project as a direct contribution. The project is designed as an open program, individual activities and beneficiaries are selected according to defined criteria. The measures focus on the agriculture and livestock value chains. The open program finances the rehabilitation of smaller infrastructures, knowledge transfer to farmers and farmers' associations, and the provision of goods and services. The respective priorities are determined through a community-based selection process. The target group is predominantly vulnerable, economically active agropastoral households, with a special focus on young people and households headed by women. The project region includes three districts in the Gedo region in southern Somalia in the border area with Ethiopia and Kenya (Dollow, Luuq and Belet Hava). EUR 8,027,282.54 is earmarked for financing from an FZ grant. The project duration is 30 months. |
