Strengthening Safety Nets Systems - MASAF IV

The objective of the Fourth Social Action Fund Strengthening Safety Net Systems Project for Malawi is to strengthen Malawi’s social safety net delivery systems and coordination across programs. The project has three components. (1) Productive safety nets component will focus on three productive safety net programs: (a) productive community driven public works which build productive community assets and provide temporary employment; (b) livelihood and skill development interventions for poor households, and (c) social cash transfers for those who are most vulnerable and labor constrained, including the elderly, disabled, and sick. (2) Systems and capacity building component will finance investments in strengthening unified registry, targeting and management information systems, capacity building, technical assistance, training, staff and equipment including for the safety net platform under the local development fund mechanism well as for social cash transfer program. (3) Project management component will focus on additional capacity development, harmonization and training in community and watershed management.
