Description
Description | The project Strengthening social infrastructure in communities affected by the refugee crisis will rehabilitate, expand or build new social infrastructure facilities in structurally weak communities or communities affected by migration movements. The aim of the FC measure is to improve social infrastructure services for the local population and in particular vulnerable groups such as minorities (Roma, Albanians) and repatriated migrants. Where relevant, access to social infrastructure services for transit migrants in the program communities will also be improved. This is intended to reduce the pressure on the local population to emigrate and the potential for conflict between migrants and the local population. The program provides for potential investments in the construction/rehabilitation of kindergartens, schools and health facilities, the repair of public squares and sports facilities, the purchase of waste collection vehicles and medical equipment and, to a small extent, social housing. The locations and type of measures will be adapted to current needs. Measures that can be implemented at short notice and have a direct, clearly visible effect will achieve a rapid and concrete improvement in the living conditions of the target groups. In the first financing phase, around 30 individual measures are to be implemented in up to 15 municipalities. The project sponsor is the Serbian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The total cost of the projects in several structurally weak municipalities or districts is EUR 20 million (inventory audit). For the first phase of the project, the BMZ has pledged budget funds for investments and consulting services amounting to EUR 5,431,634.97 (2015 budget); the additional funding required therefore amounts to EUR 14.6 million. |
