Description
Description | The devastating flood disaster in Pakistan, triggered in August 2022, hits the poor, especially women and children, particularly hard. Immediate and effective support is therefore urgently needed, as the poor have hardly any financial reserves. The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to make a rapid contribution to helping the poor, especially women and children, cover their basic needs in the context of the flood disaster. On the other hand, the resilience of the poor and vulnerable population is to be strengthened in a preventive manner. This is to be done by financially supporting the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and strengthening its performance in order to provide the poor and vulnerable population groups with adequate social security. The module objective is to be achieved with the following measures: Increasing conditional cash transfers for health and nutrition for women and children; Financing conditional cash transfers for adolescent girls in selected districts affected by the flood; Increasing the capacity of the BISP to respond to climate shocks and develop adaptive protection mechanisms. The target group of the project are the recipients of BISP cash transfers for health and nutrition in the flood-affected districts, especially women and children. |
