Strengthening Suriname’s Social Protection System

The objective of this technical cooperation is to improve the legal and institutional framework of Suriname's social protection system, as well as its efficiency and capacity to promote human capital. Specifically, the CT will (i) develop a social protection law and interinstitutional coordination mechanism for its implementation; (ii) design new tools to support targeting of social assistance programs aimed at persons with disabilities; and (iii) design an early childhood development (ECD) program to promote cognitive and social-emotional development among children under four years of age who live in poor households. The TC supports the implementation of Components 2 and 3 of the "Support to Safety Nets for Vulnerable Populations in Suriname" (SU-L1073) program.
