Description
Description | The objective of this project is to strengthen and contribute to the capacity of the Latvian national judicial cooperation network thus increasing the national input to the EJN activities and therefore strengthen the operation and visibility of the EJN as a whole. It is envisaged that the project shall implement the following two major approaches to achieve the set aim. Firstly, by re-launching the existing network (e.g. reviewing current position, functions and training needs, updating if relevant and inviting new stakeholders promoting the role of mediation and family and children policy). Secondly, by raising public awareness of the national network through the education of the society about available EU instruments on the judicial cooperation focusing on identified cross-border issues. In this respect, the project aims to create and disseminate visual (video) and audio (podcasts) materials on the EJN as such, the role of mediation in litigations; marriage, divorce; child abduction; protection of minor Latvian citizens in care proceedings abroad; maintenance issues; inheritance cases; state provided judicial assistance; enforcement of judgements and the Latvian notary services (for foreigners). The project will be based on close partnership between the members of the Latvian national network, the Ministry of Justice acting as the lead coordinator and associated partners: the Council of Sworn notaries, the Council of Sworn Bailiffs, the Court Administration, the Council of Certified Mediators and the Administration of the Maintenance Guarantee Fund. In general, the project aims to reach the dual concept, on one hand, to promote the cooperation between the competent authorities, and, on the other hand, to establish a link between a EU citizen and relevant professional or source of necessary information. |
