The action aims at enabling the provision of better protection, assistance and durable solutions for refugees and asylum seekers in Sudan through improved documentation and robust data storage systems. Its general objective is to improve registration and documentation systems and building capacities, The activities focus on the establishment and roll-out of the new standardized and networked data collection system for registration of refugees and asylum seekers in Sudan, while they equally improve the access for asylum seekers and migrants to adequate documentation/certification. Aiming for a continuous, permanent, and accessible system, universal in coverage, timely and accurate, while ensuring confidentiality, the action will promote handling of data in line with international and national standards. Through the improvement and alignment of systems, the action is able to improve civil registration, in particular birth registration. This is particularly relevant for refugees of all population groups currently in Sudan and the new-arrivals of non-South-Sudanese refugees. While refugees and asylum seekers and their host communities are the main target groups, as they see their registration and documentation, and therefore their protection and integration, improved, Government and partners are equally benefiting from this action as it builds capacity and supports enhanced policies for an inclusive registry through demand creation/awareness raising campaigns and support to implementing government bodies like the Sudanese Commissioner for Refugees, the Civil Registry General Directorate and the Ministry of Health. It contributes to integration of refugees into national Government processes and addresses fundamental rights of refugees. It enables for better integrated basic service delivery to refugees and their host communities, it allows better planning and implementation of projects by the Government and it improves coordination and information management.
