Description
Description | The core problem is that large parts of the population in the already structurally weak regions of Somali, Oromia and Afar are exposed to additional shocks due to the ongoing drought, violent conflicts and price increases as a result of the war in Ukraine. This is deteriorating both the livelihoods of people, especially internally displaced persons and children, and the resilience and responsiveness of communities and systems. The aim of the project is to increase the resilience of drought-affected communities and improve their access to integrated basic services by strengthening cross-sectoral systems for the sustainable provision of basic social services in the target areas in Afar, Oromia and Somali. The target group of the project is the population in six selected districts (woredas) in the regions of Afar, Oromia and Somali, which are particularly affected by drought (a total of around 250,000 people). The project envisages multisectoral measures in the area of basic social services and food security. Key results are: - Individuals, households and communities have improved access to integrated basic services; - The functionality and adaptability of national and subnational systems for the delivery of basic services is strengthened; - National and subnational capacities to use data-based information in promoting sustainable livelihoods are improved. |
