Description

Description

ACA-Europe is present in 33 european States. Members are the CJEU, the Councils of State and the Supreme Administrative Courts (SAC) of all the EU- Member States, the UK Supreme Court (which become mid 2021 guest member) and 2 advisory bodies not integrated in the SAC of their State (LU and RO). The SAC of the States acceding to the EU are observer (momently: Montenegro, Serbie, Turkey). The SAC of NO and CH are guest members. All SAC adjudicate at last judicial instances and therofore play an essential role in the unification and harmonisation of EU law. ACA-Europe strives to be a ubiquitous pan-EU project that makes a substantial contribution to a better access to administrative justice and judicial cooperation (both horizontal and vertical) in the field of administrative justice. The general objective of ACA-Europe is to promote within its financial limits exchanges of views and experience on matters concerning the jurisprudence, organisation and functioning of its Members in the performance of their judicial and/or advisory functions, particularly with regard to EU-law. The specific objectives for this program are: - to improve the (specialised) knowledge of SAC judges on EU legislation including the application of EU instruments, the priority of the rule of law as well as the priority of fundamental rights; - to increase the capacity of SAC judges to ensure access to justice and respect the priority of fundamental rights; - to promote, make available and/or facilitate electronic communication channels and establish (in-house) databases with EU added value; - to continuously practice good governance. These objectives will be achieved by dissemination and exchange activities, e-tools (databases, e-library, website, flash and e-news), milestone and networking activities. Gender mainstreaming and non-discrimination are evident general principles in all actions and projects of ACA-Europe and in its proposal to the European Commission.
