Description

Description

TGEU is the leading voice for trans people in Europe and Central Asia, advancing their rights, dignity, and resilience. Guided by the EU’s values of equality, democracy, and human rights, TGEU fosters an inclusive Europe where gender diversity is celebrated, and trans people thrive in safety and dignity. Through intersectional, de-colonial, and evidence-based approaches, TGEU empowers trans organisations and activists to shape policies that uphold the rule of law and promote social justice. Core activities include capacity building & training, fostering movement resilience through the European Trans Council, and amplifying trans voices via advocacy, research, and strategic litigation. Flagship projects such as the Trans Rights Index and Map, Trans Murder Monitoring, and policy briefs inform EU and national policymaking, while awareness campaigns like Trans Days of Visibility & Remembrance, foster solidarity and raise public understanding. This programme / proposal supports: 1. Sustainable operations and governance aligned with EU principles of accountability and transparency, equipping TGEU to mobilise its members effectively. 2. The empowerment of trans communities with the skills and capacity to address overlapping oppressions, advocate for the LGBTIQ Equality Strategy, and advance equality and social cohesion. 3. Advocacy and dissemination to counter discrimination, hate speech, and violence; champion access to healthcare and employment; and promote systemic change aligned with the EU’s commitment to justice and freedom. Amid rising anti-trans aggression, human rights rollbacks, and multiple global crises, TGEU represents over 120 organisations in 27 EU Member States and 26 members in Accession Countries. We support the EU’s strategic priorities of a free, democratic, and prosperous Europe, by strengthening partnerships and advancing community-led initiatives to ensure all citizens, regardless of gender identity, can live with dignity, freedom, and equality.
