INHOPE's Annual Programme 2022 will contribute to the protection, promotion and raising awareness of the rights of children in the EU; and to the protection of children and combat of any format of violence they experience, both online and offline. The mission of INHOPE is to support the network of hotlines in combating online Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), in order to create a world that is free of online CSAM. CSAM is the permanent recording of the sexual abuse or exploitation of a child and depicts actual crime scenes posted on the internet. This crime occurs in one country, images of the crime are viewed in another country and the image is hosted in yet another different country. This means that if one image has been reported to a hotline in one country, the INHOPE network ensures that the electronic service provider in another country is immediately notified and will act swiftly to remove the image, while simultaneously sharing it with INTERPOL for victim identification purposes. INHOPE provides this unique connection between internet hotlines. Through training and mutual learning activities, INHOPE will continue supporting analysts of 30 European internet hotlines and other 16 non-European hotlines to be able to remove images and videos of child abuse as fast as possible from the internet in the EU and worldwide. Through awareness raising campaigns, INHOPE will engage European citizens to report any child abuse and exploitation material they find online. Besides online reports of CSAM, twenty European hotlines also process online illegal reports containing discrimination, racism, xenophobia and all forms of intolerance. Their tireless work will contribute to combating the prevalence of this material online, as well as preventing its redistribution. The activities of this operating grant in 2022 will reach a total of 50 hotlines, 200 hotline analysts and its awareness raising activities will have a reach of minimum 2,5 million citizens.
