Description

Description

Lorne Street is a collector roadway that serves as one of two major gateways into the Town’s industrial area. The existing road, water and sidewalk assets are all in need of replacement making this corridor the Town’s top candidate for reconstruction. Properties within the work area (480m stretch from Queen St to the Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway) include 26 homes, two factories and a commercial strip mall. The reconstruction of Lorne Street proposes to include approximately 430m of new storm sewer ranging in size from 600mm to 750mm. This new storm sewer will enable the separation of existing combined sanitary sewers. Once the segregation project identified (SMF-0001) on this corridor has been completed, the Town is proposing to rehabilitate approximately 485m of 300/350mm asbestos concrete sanitary sewer (circa 1960’s) with a new trenchless cure in place liner in order to extend the life of this asset by approximately 50 years. This project will also offer improved environmental outcomes through the elimination of sources of infiltration and inflow from joints, cracks and former drainage connections.
