Description

Description

The SHIFT project aims to transform higher education by embedding student-centred learning methodologies and developing flexible academic pathways that respond to students' needs and labour market demands. Higher education institutions (HEIs) must evolve to provide inclusive, adaptable, and internationally connected learning environments, ensuring that students actively shape their own educational experiences. SHIFT responds to the challenges of academic rigidity, skills mismatches, and the limited recognition of learning outcomes from mobility experiences, directly contributing to the priorities of the European Education Area and the Erasmus+ Programme. The SHIFT project seeks to: Empower students as co-creators of their learning experiences, promoting student-centred approaches across European HEIs. Improve the recognition of skills and learning outcomes gained through international education, supporting both academic and professional progression. Strengthen the capacity of academic staff to implement, assess, and refine student-centred teaching methods, ensuring inclusive and adaptable pedagogical practices. Bridge the gap between higher education and the labour market, fostering structured cooperation between HEIs, students, and employers to align educational outcomes with workforce demands. The project brings together European University Alliances, student organisations, policymakers, and research institutions to co-create methodologies and policy recommendations that support International education activities. It builds upon the experiences of the project partners in education policy, flexible learning, and skills recognition, contributing to the broader goal of implementing the European Degree and strengthening student-centred teaching. The SHIFT consortium will influence policy development, institutional strategies, and teaching methodologies, ensuring that student-centred education becomes an embedded and sustainable practice in European Education.
