Studies for the second phase of PCI 'Asturias H2 valley electrolyser'

The project contributes to the implementation of the Corridor for Hydrogen interconnections in Western Europe under the PCI Cluster 9.15 Electrolyser facilities in Spain, and more specifically to the PCI 9.15.5 Asturias H2 valley electrolyser in Asturias (ES). The overall goal is to develop 1 GW of electrolysis in the region of Asturias by 2030 with an estimated yearly production of 0.126 Mt/y of hydrogen split equally between the two locations (Soto and Aboño). The PCI includes a first phase with a 150 MW electrolyser capacity in the site of Aboño, for which engineering, construction and operation is ongoing. This project is focussed on the second phase of the PCI, with an additional 350 MW electrolyser capacity in the site of Aboño and 500 MW in the site of Soto. The project scope covers all the studies necessary to implement such investments. The studies will allow to start the permitting processes with the public authorities and will also provide the detailed engineering of the project in both sites (Aboño and Soto), ensuring a precise business plan assessment and ad-hoc engineering right before construction. The scope comprises all the necessary Basic Engineering activities in the sites of Aboño and Soto, all the necessary Environmental permit documents in the two sites and the development of the Detailed engineering documents in both sites. Once the project is completed and the complete techno-economic details available, the authorisations for the execution of the investments will be granted, allowing launching the works for the construction of the electrolysis facilities for the second phase of PCI 9.15.5 in Aboño and Soto sites.
