Description

Description

The PCI 9.16.2, the EmilHY project, spearheaded by GazelEnergie, is dedicated to establishing a renewable and low-carbon hydrogen production plant. This facility will be seamlessly integrated into the MosaHYc pipeline project, a joint effort by NATRAN (the French gas transmission system operator) and CREOS (the German gas distribution operator). The MosaHYc pipeline spans over 100 km, connecting France and Germany. This CEF-funded project (EmilHY studies) completes the technical studies, including the FEED studies to validate the design and final plant layout and increases the project’s financial maturity to the level that an investment decision can be made. The studies will also include detail engineering studies dedicated to the procurement & construction activities. The studies will integrate the ramp-up deployment of the plant capacity with a 1st module to be commissioned of at least 50 MW, followed by a progressive development of the remaining capacity until the permitting envelop 200 MW within two to three years. The ultimate objective is to reach 400 MW installed capacity corresponding to the maximum capacity of the Emile Huchet site. The project includes three Work Packages (WP) and the main deliverables are the construction & environmental permits, the Power Purchase Agreements, the Executive Design Report, to prepare for a FID. Once the EmilHY project is completed, the site will be an eco-industrial platform, reusing its existing infrastructure to produce large-scale renewable hydrogen via water electrolysis. The project will primarily supply H2 to the industries located in the Grande Region (Luxembourg, Grand Est & Saarland mainly), being connected to the MosaHYc cross-border network (PCI 9.2.2), thus supporting decarbonization in the Saarland region in Germany.
