Description

Studio South Zero (SSZ) is a solar powered mobile studio on wheels created by Torkwase Dyson. It is a modular architectural space designed to be shared and used by artists, particularly those who use electricity in their work. The project explores renewable energy, solar technology, and nomadic architecture, aiming to create spaces embedded with the needs and sensibilities of Black bodies. The second iteration, SSZ_2, was used as a mobile office for research on infrastructural rights of Black people in the Black Belt, traveling through communities in the southern United States.
