Study on implementing an on-demand transportation service

The STS has taken on the challenge of making the means of getting around more accessible, reliable and attractive, while enhancing the public’s mobility experience. Service to outlying areas with low population density poses planning and performance challenges that need to be assessed. The emergence of new mobile technology offers an opportunity to assess such services by more actively managing mobility services made possible by on-demand transport systems. A study will allow the STS to evaluate the performance of service to Sherbrooke’s outlying areas, target sectors with high potential for on-demand transportation services, and conduct a cost/benefit analysis for the introduction of such services.
