Information NHPC has come up with Subansiri Lower HE Project [2000 MW] with a ticket size of 21247.54 INR Crores. This project in Energy Generation [Renewable] sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project NHPC is implementing 2000 MW Subansiri Lower HE Project in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam on Subansiri River, a tributary of Brahmaputra. It has a Concrete Gravity Dam 116m high, 271m wide, 284m long, 8 Nos., 9.5m dia, horse shoe shaped, 7102 m total length Head Race Tunnel, Surface Power House, 285m x 61m x 64m with 8 Nos. Francis Turbine of 250 MW each, Annual Design Energy 7422 MU in a 90 percent deepenndable year. The project was transferred to NHPC for execution in May 2000 from Brahmaputra Board. CCEA approval for implementation was accorded on 09.9.2003 at sanctioned cost of Rs. 6285.33 Crores at Dec 02 PL with completion period of 7 years. Works were stalled since December 2011 due to agitation launched by various activists in Assam against the construction of Project raising issues of safety of Dam and its downstream impact. Further NGT, Kolkata vide order dated 11.12.2015 had also banned any work at the project except of emergency nature for maintenance for public safety purpose. Works at Project stalled since Dec11 and resumed w.e.f. 15.10.2019 after NGT clearance vide order dated 31.07.2019 and signing of MOA with Govt. of Assam on 23.08.2019.
