Description | The Mega Equipment International Corp. (MEIC) won the 25-year concession contract to build and operate a grain terminal at Subic Port in the Luzon Island. The contract was award by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in 2000, however the project only reached financial closure in 2001 when the construction was initiated. To operate the terminal MEIC created the company Subic Bay Freeport Bulk Terminal Services Inc. (SBFBTI). The company is expected to invest US$ 10.6 million (P 450 million) during the concession period, including the construction costs. The project is part of a bigger project planned by SBMA to improve the Subic port facilities. When this improvement project be fully completed the Subic Port operations are expected to alleviate the cargo movements of the congested Manila Port. None None |
