Description | A submerged tunnel project connecting Santos to Guarujá, designed to reduce crossing time to about 5 minutes. The tunnel will have 3 lanes in each direction, including one exclusive for light rail vehicles, a pedestrian bike path, and a service gallery. The submerged part will be constructed using precast concrete blocks installed at the bottom of the Porto de Santos estuary channel, a technique new to Brazil but used in Europe and Asia. The project is strategic for the port of Santos and expected to generate 9,000 jobs during construction. |
