Description
Description | This announcement is to provide public notice of the NPS's intentions to award financial assistance for the following project activities without competition. This is a modification to add additional funding to an existing agreement P17AC00176. The youth team will conduct habitat management activities associated with wetland restoration actions. Wetland restoration work will include plant propagation, plant installation, seed collection and site preparation. Site preparation work will include herbicide applications and the use of tools and operating equipment such as hand saws, loppers, pruners, sprayers, and brush cutters to remove undesirable plants. Work will be adaptive with other tasks assigned as necessary to obtained work goals. The objective of this Agreement is to provide an opportunity for youth training and career development while accomplishing meaningful natural resources management work. The project will engage youth participants in natural, cultural, and historic resource protection activities. Youth crew members will gain hands-on experience – outside of the classroom. The Recipient will recruit a five member youth crew comprised of one crew leader and four crew team members. Project work will introduce youth to a wetlands ecosystem and the unique type of critical services necessary to maintain an overall healthy wetlands ecosystem environment. The youth crew will be trained by NPS staff to conduct wetland restoration actions including eradication of invasive species, plant installation, plant propagation, and seed collection. |
