Summit Carbon Solutions Carbon Pipeline

Summit Carbon Solutions is proposing a carbon pipeline that will cross 2,000 miles in five states to transport liquidized carbon for underground storage in North Dakota. The pipeline is planned to cross approximately 41 miles in Clay County, Iowa. The company has obtained over 466 miles of voluntary easements in Iowa, about 68% of the required miles. Before construction can begin, a permit from the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) is required, with a hearing scheduled for October and a ruling expected three to four months later. If approved, construction is planned to start next summer. The project includes regular aerial inspections of the pipeline to ensure safety and prevent exposure of the pipe.
