Description | US renewables developer Longroad Energy's Sun Pond facility features 111 MWdc of solar capacity and an 85-MW/340-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) set in Arizona. The plant has reached commercial operation and is expected to generate enough electricity annually to power around 35,000 homes. The output is contracted under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Ava Community Energy and San Jose Clean Energy. The project was built by McCarthy Building Companies, with battery systems supplied by Fluence, solar modules by First Solar, solar trackers by Nextpower, and inverters by Sungrow. Sun Pond is part of Longroad’s Sun Streams complex, a portfolio of four solar and storage projects in Maricopa County with a combined capacity of nearly 1.6 GW. |
