Description | In May 1996, Road Builder (M) Sdn Bhd signed a 30 year BOT concession contract for the construction and operation of a 16km, 6-lane Sungei Besi toll road (including an upgrade of the existing 4km). Road Builder established a project company, Besraya Sdn Bhd, with co-sponsors HMS Resource Sdn Bhd (35%) and Gagah Garuda Sdn Bhd (5%). Road Builder started construction on August 6, 1996 and expects to complete in February 1999. The road includes 3 bridges and 2 toll plazas. The project will cost M$305 million (US$120.7 million - excluding land acquisition costs). Financing is part equity (30%) and part project financing (70%) that includes a soft loan and interest free loan from the government. Road Builder has been arranging a M$90 million syndicated loan for this and other road projects. None None |
