Description
Description | Swedish renewables developer OX2 has laid out a plan for an up to 150-MWdc solar park with an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) in Queensland, Australia. The project will be located in Rollingstone, about 50 kilometres north of Townsville, connecting to the grid via a switching station linked to an existing 132-kV transmission line. The photovoltaic farm and its co-located two-hour battery of 128 MW/256 MWh will be installed across 186 hectares of private land. Once operational, it will generate electricity for around 55,000 homes and mitigate around 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The project supports Queensland’s goal of 70% renewable energy by 2032 and net zero emissions by 2050. Construction is planned to take around 18 months with commissioning by 2029. |
