Description

Description

Supervia Poetas was an elevated highway originally approximately 5.2km long consisting of five tunnels and bridges. The project stretched from Avenida Centenario to Luis Cabrera in Mexico City and provided direct access to Querétaro, Toluca and Cuernavaca. The project was originally awarded by the local government in 2010 to a consortium of OHL Mexico {50%] and Inmobiliaria Copri, SAPI de CV [Mexico, 50%]. OHL Mexico was a subsidiary of OHL Spain. The concession agreement was signed in April 2010, and would extend 30 years from the start of operations. In July 2012, the project company, Controladora Vía Rápida Poetas, S.A de C.V. was awarded the right to a 2km extension to connect to Autopista Urbana Sur. The total project length was now over 7km. In October 2012 the first 1.6km stretch became operational, and two months later, the final stretch of the original project became operational. The 2km extension was to be completed in early 2013. Although OHL reported that the total investment over the life of the project was 300 million euro (385 million USD), as of December 31, 2012 OHL Mexico had invested $2,607 million pesos (198 million USD) in the project, corresponding to its 50% participation, so perhaps the actual project cost would be larger. In August 2012, A 700 million peso (53 million USD) line of credit was provided by Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos (Banobras), Sociedad Nacional de Crédito, Institución de Banca de Desarrollo y Banco Mercantil del Norte, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, and Grupo Financiero Banorte. Information on how the remaining portion of investment was financed was not publically available.
