The general objective of the program is to improve the competitiveness and market access of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in agriculture and agroindustry in El Salvador. Its specific objective is to establish a mechanism for the sustainable provision of information and training services and technical assistance specializing in production, marketing, and management for agricultural and agroindustrial SMEs. The components that will be financed under the program include a comprehensive business information and advisory service; a system of training and technical-assistance services in areas related to operating agroenterprises; the introduction of a checkoff system of contributions in proportion to the enterprises' economic activity to generate resources for the institutional strengthening of the executing agency; a promotional campaign; and program coordination.
