The proposed project aims to stimulate and develop Gabon's most promising sectors of the "nature-based sectors" such as eco-tourism and the timber and forestry sector. The objective is to create job opportunities, spur private sector development and maximize proceeds from sustainably maintained and managed natural ecosystems. This work will also help grow the intrinsic value of these natural capital endowments thereby putting the government in a stronger position to generate revenues from carbon and biodiversity credit markets. Support activities will be organized along the green value chains, ranging from 1) strengthening infrastructures and institutions for market access mechanisms and biodiversity management and 2) Support for the development of blue and green SMEs through access to technical assistance, finance and skilled labor. Support to the Blue economy will be explored for further engagement.
