Infrastructure is a priority area of action for the New Partnership for Africa's Development Initiative (NEPAD), which was founded by African heads of state in 2001. The IPPF (Infrastructure Project Preparatory Facility) located at NEPAD is primarily intended to advance the implementation of the projects prioritized within the framework of the PIDA. The fund is managed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) on behalf of NEPAD. KfW supports the fund with capital. The aim of the measure is to contribute to the development of infrastructure in Africa. Specifically, public and private sponsors are to be gained by supporting the preparation of financeable and viable infrastructure projects in the energy, transport, water and ICT sectors. The target group is the consumers of energy, transport and other economic infrastructure services in Africa.
